Getting Started

GuoheView is a fast image viewer for Windows — free and ad-free. This page helps you install it and open your first image in about a minute.

Installer vs. portable

The download page offers two editions with identical features. The only difference is where settings are stored:

Edition Best for Settings stored in
Installer (.exe) Most users %APPDATA%\GuoheView; supports file association and Explorer thumbnails
Portable (.7z) No installation, run from a USB drive Inside the extracted folder (next to portable.ini); no registry writes, no system folders touched

For the portable edition, just extract it and run GuoheView.exe. Deleting the folder uninstalls it completely.

Opening images

Pick whichever you like:

  1. Drag and drop: drag an image or folder onto the window
  2. File association: the installer edition can associate common formats in one click from Settings; after that, double-click any image to open it
  3. Context menu: in Explorer, right-click an image → Open with → GuoheView

Once an image is open, the other images in the same folder are added to the browsing list automatically — use the arrow keys or mouse wheel to flip through them.

Interface at a glance

  • Toolbar: at the bottom of the window, with frequent actions such as open, previous / next, zoom, 1:1, fit to window and rotate (delete with Delete; always-on-top is in the title bar)
  • Minimap: appears in the top-left corner when zoomed in; drag it to jump to any area quickly
  • Info panel: press Tab to show dimensions, shooting parameters (EXIF), a histogram and more; click a value to copy it
