Supported Formats
GuoheView has a built-in, in-house decoding engine. Common formats, modern formats, camera RAW and professional design files all open directly — no codecs to install.
Common formats
JPEG (including JFIF), PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, TGA and other common formats are supported natively. Animations (GIF / APNG / animated WebP) loop automatically.
Modern formats
- WebP: both static and animated
- HEIC / HEIF: the iPhone's default photo format, opens directly without conversion
- AVIF: the new high-compression format
- JPEG XR (JXR / WDP / HDP): the high-dynamic-range format from the Windows ecosystem
- JPEG XL (JXL): supported through a decoder plugin; see Extensions for installation
Camera RAW
RAW formats from the major camera makers are supported, with opening speed specifically optimized:

Vector and professional formats
- TIFF / TIF: multi-page browsing and tiled loading for very large images; CMYK color mode displays correctly
- PSD / PSB: view the composited result of Photoshop documents without opening Photoshop
- SVG / SVGZ: native vector rendering, sharp at any zoom level
- AI / EPS: preview Illustrator and EPS documents
- EMF / WMF: Windows metafile vector images
Thumbnail support
The installer edition can enable an Explorer thumbnail extension, so formats Windows does not recognize — RAW, HEIC, PSD and more — show thumbnails right in your folders.
