Viewing & Shortcuts

  • Switch images: ← / → arrow keys; whether the mouse wheel switches images or zooms can be chosen in Settings
  • Zoom: Ctrl + + / Ctrl + - to zoom in and out. Wheel zoom always centers on the cursor and keeps focus during continuous zooming. Ctrl+1 returns to 1:1 actual size, Ctrl+0 fits the window
  • Pan: when zoomed in, hold the left button and drag the canvas. A minimap appears in the top-left corner while zoomed; drag it to jump around (right-click the minimap to hide it or reset its position)
  • Rotate: Ctrl+R rotates clockwise; the toolbar also has clockwise / counter-clockwise buttons

Custom shortcuts

All of the default shortcuts above can be changed, and you can add extra keys for more actions. Go to Settings → Shortcuts; changes take effect immediately without a restart.

Changing a default shortcut

Click the key box in a row and press the key combination you want — for example, change "Rotate left" from Ctrl+Shift+R to Ctrl+L. Each row ends with a circular-arrow button that restores that entry to its default.

Adding a custom shortcut

In the "Custom shortcuts" area below the list, click "Add" to create a new row: pick an action from the drop-down on the left, press a key combination on the right, and use the ✕ at the end of the row to delete it. Actions you can bind include:

Category Bindable actions
Browse Open image, open file location, previous, next
View Zoom in, zoom out, fit to window, actual size, rotate right, rotate left, fullscreen, borderless mode, always on top
File Rename, delete image, save as, set as wallpaper
Copy Copy image, copy file, copy file name, copy full path
Info Image information
Animation Play / pause, previous frame, next frame

You can add up to 20 custom shortcuts. The same action can have several keys (for example, flip pages with both the arrow keys and PageUp / PageDown).

Conflict detection

If the key combination you press is already used by another action, you immediately see "Shortcut already used by "XXX"", and it is not saved — two actions never fight over one key with unpredictable results. To use the new key, first change or delete the entry that holds it.

Supported keys

  • Modifiers: any combination of Ctrl, Shift and Alt
  • Main keys: letters, digits, F1–F12, arrow keys, Enter, Space, Tab, Esc, Backspace, Delete, Insert, Home, End, PageUp, PageDown, and symbol keys such as + -

Custom shortcuts are saved in the config file, so the portable edition carries them along with its folder.

Handy features

  • Drag out a file: while the image fits the window, hold the left button and drag it straight into a chat, an email or a folder
  • Always on top: the pin button in the title bar turns solid blue when active; handy for comparing against a reference image
  • Borderless mode: toggle it from the context menu to hide the title bar and borders for immersive viewing
  • Animations: GIF / APNG / animated WebP loop automatically; the bottom control bar can pause and step frame by frame
  • Set as wallpaper: set the current image as the desktop background from the context menu
  • Open location: locate the current file in Explorer from the context menu

Display settings

  • Anti-aliasing: on by default for smooth zooming; turn it off to show crisp pixels when inspecting pixel detail
  • Color management: reads the ICC profile embedded in the image automatically, with an optional monitor ICC profile; CMYK print files also display with correct colors
  • Canvas background: switch the canvas background color so transparent areas in PNG and similar images are easy to see
  • Light / dark theme: switch between light and dark themes
